October 19, 2009 Meeting Notes

We had a great meeting as Stormy Lovett, regional coordinator for PATH, Lois Holguin, and Theresa Ely explained why portfolios are so important and then showed us ways to set up our own for our kids.


Announcements

Don't forget to pay your dues to gain access to our e-group. This is a sounding board for advice and ideas and can be a great resource.

T-shirts have been printed and were distributed at or meeting. A big thanks to Theresa for all her hard work. They look great! Contact Theresa if you ordered a shirt and need to pick it up.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out with fundraising! Please let us know if you can donate some of your time.

Christmas party plans are in the works. We are going to go back to Spirals Gymnastics where our kids will get play followed by a potluck dinner.

Metronome Therapy with Carla Hamilton, OT

Carla Hamilton of Pediatric Play Therapy will discuss metronome therapy and other forms of OT. There will be hands-on equipment available for your convenience and lots of opportunities to have all your questions answered.

September 2009 Meeting News

Although this meeting was a meet-and-greet with no speaker, we did get to meet Lois Holguin, a new member of our group. Lois underwent the PATH training with Theresa and will be one of our speakers next month. She has invited us to her house next Monday to learn about the ARD process. Look for more information soon.

Announcements

· Dues were due yesterday. Anyone who has not paid will be deleted from the e-group. But you can still join up and pay at anytime to be reinstated! Please remember these dues go to The ARC of Texas.

· All t-shirt money should have been paid.

· We have done some restructuring to our board. The following new members have joined:

Treasurer: Jennifer Kundak

Advertising: Emily Pullin, Carmen Coyne, Shera Cerni

· We still need someone to take charge of advertising and fundraising. Please let us know if you are able to help out with one of these positions.

· Have books you love and think others in our group would love as well? Join our ASAP Book Share group!

· We are starting a suggestion box in order to hear your ideas. Let us know what type of speakers you would like to hear at the meetings and anything else you think might benefit our group.

· It’s time to start planning our Christmas Party! We are considering going back to Spirals Gymnastics. For those of you who weren't here last December, it was a great place that allowed our kids to run and jump and ride the zip line! Then we all shared a potluck dinner together. If you have a different idea for the party, please let us know!

· We need to fund raise for an exciting ABA therapy scholarship opportunity! Theresa and Nancy Wagner of ABA Academy has worked out a deal where ASAP will provide 100 hours of therapy to one child in our group at a greatly discounted rate. After we raise the money, we will invite you to submit your name if you wish to be considered for the drawing. It's a great chance, so please help us raise that money! More information will be forthcoming.
